Jazz music is to be played sweet, soft, plenty rhythm.~ Jelly Roll Morton

Blue Cashmere plays classic tunes from the American songbook.  Casually elegant and intimate. Liz Keever is a storyteller on vocals, Robert Marquis masterfully sets the mood on electric hollow-body guitar and Michael Olivola builds a strong foundation on upright bass. We honor the American songbook with tunes from the Gershwins, Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hart, Irving Berlin and others.  You'll hear songs recorded by Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Mel Torme, Carmen McRae and Billy Holiday among others.

Liz Keever

Vocalist

Vocalist, Liz Keever was described by The Oregonian as “vivacious” with a “powerful and versatile voice”.  NYC’s Backstage magazine described her singing as “impeccably phrased” and “wrapping herself emotionally around” the music.  Liz has been a soloist with the Portland Gay Men’s Chorus and performed with the Oregon Symphony.  She’s created, produced and performed her one-woman musical shows on both coasts, played leading roles in musicals as well as singing in a cruise-ship quartet for two years.  A musical wanderer, Liz was classically trained before discovering musical theater, jazz and the joy of pop music.

Robert Marquis

Guitarist

Robert Marquis performs a varied combination of traditional and contemporary jazz and rock music that has roots in the blues. Robert’s compositions and arrangement vary in style and texture by using musical elements from all the different cities in which he’s lived.  In his previous career, Robert performed for 20 years as a member of the U.S. Navy Contemporary Music Ensemble and as the guitar instructor for the Navy and Marine Corps. Originally from Miami, he’s lived in New Orleans, Seattle, Virginia Beach and San Diego and has traveled and performed extensively across the U.S.

Michael Olivola

Bassist

Michael Olivola is a jazz bassist who’s been performing in the Pacific Northwest for the last 7 years.  He has previously lived and played music in New York, San Francisco and New Mexico. Some of the musicians he has worked with are Larry Coryell, Onaje Allan Gumbs, Mike Clark, Charlie Palmieri, Eddie Daniels Kenny Davern, Rita Moreno, and Charo, to name a few.
